Thank you Flavia for this expression. It is how most people on Main Street (mainstream America) would speak.
The ignoble term repeated in this thread by several here is ingracious and downright shocking to most Amercans. I am glad to see you providing a term that people can not be ashamed to use in publilc family orieinted places, including the workplace. People judge us rightly or wrongly by the words we use in public, and I strongly recommend avoiding using the A-word, except among your friends, because people will think you are vulgar.

Songs and American films give the wrong impression about curse words, implying that everybody goes around dropping curse words casually in conversation. Althouggh itis a good way to practice listening skills to watch films and listen to songs, please do not assimilate the bad language examples offered by the entertainment industry to boost sales.

Although I do not want to be known as the "language cop," I would be remiss if I did not point out the pitfalls of repeating everything you hear produced by the entertainment industry and assuming that it acurately reflects American culture. The use of expletives (curse words) only represents a subculture in the larger American culture, and is unaccepptable to most people in decent conversations.

One of my online contacts, who is learning English was havng a conversation with me and suddenly the A-word popped up. She explained to me that she did not know that it is offensive. She had picked it up from movies, and thought that it was just a "funny, cute" way to describe her derrier.

If you are learning English online in chat rooms, people will get the wrong idea about you if you use the A-word.

Por 12 anos residi nos EUA, e tenho certeza que há varias expressões para dizer a mesma coisa,(Puxa Saco), porem na costa leste onde eu vivia (New Jersey, New York), quando queriamos dizer que uma pessoa era puxa saco, usavamos a experessão (BROWN NOSE). que significava (Nariz marrom ou em outras palavras cheio de caca por estar sempre enfiado no traseiro de alguem puxando o saco. Ex:
