Ravenna 3
Hi there,

Thanks in advance!

Ravenna.

Although "roxas" would be "purple", surprisingly you will hear/read of bruises described as being "black and blue".

In the song "To Make You Feel My Love", you will hear:

I'd go black and blue for you
I'd go crawling down the avenue
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

Thanks for answering Thomas.
Funny difference between the two languages... ^^ I can't see a hemathoma being 'black and blue', but that's ok. By the way, in German, it's 'Blaues Auge' -- or 'olho azul' (blue eye) when you want to say 'black eye'... Go Figure...! I love learning new languages!

Manchas roxas pelo corpo em inglês: Black and blue marks on someone's body

Exemplos de uso:
  • There are still, however, the black-and-blue marks on his body, which bear witness to the brutality with which he was treated. (The New York Times)
  • After the fight the boy was all black and blue.
Bons estudos.

As always Thomas and Donay provide invaluable insights to us. I have learned a lot from you, keep up the good work!
And Ravenna, thanks for sharing your experience with the beautiful language of initial capitalized nouns! I tried to learn some German, but I stopped when they had to put me in a straight jacket. :-) But, nice language. Hats off to you.
