Darker hair - Tradução em português

Hey there! I'm thinking about the translation of this text below..

"My family... my mom, she's, she has dark hair, darker hair. And my dad, he's blond and he's not too much taller than I am." (...)

What's the mean of "darker hair"??? The same thing that "dark hair"?? Oo

Tipo, seria cabelo mais escuro que... eu pensei, por causa do "er", mas não parece que está sendo feita uma comparação. Poderia ser que ela tem o cabelo mais escuro da família, mas daí eu acho que seria "darkest"....
ou fica subentendido que o autor do texto está se comparando com ela?!
