Prompt - Tradução em português

Olá. Estou traduzindo um pequeno manual de um software - relativo à utilização de uma máquina de ultrassom -, em que aparece seguidas vezes a palavra 'prompt'.

A definição dos dicionários monolíngues a respeito dessa palavra, no contexto específico da informática, é a seguinte: "A symbol that appears on a monitor to indicate that the computer is ready to receive input."

Não sei, porém, qual seria a tradução adequada para ela.

Seguem alguns contextos de ocorrência:

- "To create a new list of text prompts, select the ‘List:New…’ menu option in
the Prompt List Editor as shown in Figure 11. Then type your prompts, one
per line, into the large blank window."

- "An image can be associated with each prompt. First create the image using
