to rattle around = perambular, vaguear, ir de cima pra baixo, fazendo ruído, barulho.

Havia achado o seguinte significado em outro site para "rattling around":
- to live or spend time in a place that is very big -

"Her husband died last year, and now she's just _rattling around_ in that huge house by herself"

Mas a minha dúvida é neste seguinte texto:
"but sometimes just putting things out into existence can help, instead of it rattling around and tormenting you"

It's a figurative sense; your thoughts "live" inside your head, but if they are troubling or disturbing thoughts, sometimes it is better to tell others about them, and get help, instead of letting them continue to rattle around inside your head.

Also applies to things like music: "I've had this tune rattling around inside my head all day and I just can't remember what it's called."
